Privacy policy
The West Island Art Studio Circuit (WIASC) is committed to protecting your privacy.
WIASC is not a business or an arts society, we are an ad hoc “Visual Arts Group”, as defined by the Canada Council for the Arts.*
As an ‘ad hoc’ group, the artists participating in WIASC may change from year to year – apart from WIASC Founder Sandra Woods – and none of us receive any payment for helping with the WIASC website.
In 2015, WIASC Founder Sandra Woods earned a certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C) with knowledge of Canadian privacy laws, regulations, and practices.
Website design, hosting, server(s), and updates
This website was designed and launched by Québec digital firm humains, using the WordPress platform.
Humains will provide website hosting and occasional on-going support, while day-to-day administration of this website will be handled by the WIASC Founder with other WIASC volunteers as a back-up in case of illness, power outages, or other access interruptions.
This website is hosted on Humains’ servers in Montreal, Quebec (Canada).
What information is collected about you
When you visit this website, your IP (Internet Protocol) address – which is different from your email address – will be stored indefinitely on the Humains’ website server, strictly for statistical purposes.
The Contact page and related WIASC email address are hosted on Humains’ servers, which stores email metadata – including your email address – for seven (7) days.
The WIASC website is connected to Google Analytics and Search Console to help Humains provide the best possible visitor experience over time.
Google retains anonymized IP addresses; anonymized because the identifying segment – the part that identifies you – is automatically removed before transmission to Google.
To ensure compliance with Quebec’s Law 25, an “Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector” (formerly Bill 64), this website uses CookieYes to manage visitor consent.
CookieYes collects anonymized data and keeps a Consent Log, as required by this law.
Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)
When WIASC replies to a comment or information request that you sent through the Contact page or email, our email response will ask whether you would like to be added to an emailing list for future WIASC events.
If you agree, your name and email address will be stored in a password-protected database created by WIASC and hosted in Montreal, Quebec (Canada).
If you don’t agree, your contact information and our response will be retained for a period of two (2) years (see Deletion of information about you, from your Contact request, below), and we will not email you again unless you contact us.
The information in this database will not be shared; it will not be sold to organizations or companies and will not be released unless required by Canadian or Québec law.
You can remove your name from this database at any time, by sending an email to info@wiasc.ca with the subject line “Unsubscribe” and no text in the body of the email.
Deletion of information about you, included in your Contact request
After two (2) years, WIASC will delete any information that you submit on the Contact page; on or about 31 January of each year, WIASC will delete any collected information that is more than two (2) years old on that date.
Contact information for the Privacy Officer
For any questions about the processing of your personal information, please contact us by e-mail at info@wiasc.ca.
The Privacy Officer will contact you within thirty (30) days of receiving your e-mail.
* According to the Canada Council for the Arts, “An ad hoc artist group is formed of independent professional artists in the visual arts (as defined by the Council), each with a professional practice and who come together for one-time or occasional projects.”
