Donna McGee
Painting grabbed me when I was a child and hasn’t let go since. My art is a personal response to the world around me. I most often use acrylic paint and watercolour but also inks, graphite, charcoal, and other media to complete my ideas. Abstraction works best for what I want to say because my thinking tends to be abstract, and it leaves space for interpretation by those viewers who are willing to engage with the paintings.
As an art teacher, I have my students explore not only the various materials and techniques, but we also discuss all the formal topics such as composition, contrasts, balance, and even art periods, art theories and whatnot. In other words, the whole gamut of the art of painting.
