Sandra Woods
Originally an amateur nature photographer while working in bioethics (healthcare ethics), I began learning to paint in 2021 as brain-plasticity or neuroplasticity training for two effects of a rare disease; Chronic pain and a Mild Cognitive Impairment, both due to Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).
The moment I picked up a paintbrush, I fell in love with watercolours for their luminosity and transparency. One of my watercolours unexpectedly won a national art competition in 2021, the same year I began painting! Another of my paintings won a First Prize in 2022, in the Watercolour & Gouache category of a Montréal-wide art contest, then I was granted an Honourable Mention for another painting in 2024.
Still dabbling in photography, one of my nature photos came second in a national photo contest in 2021.
My watercolours have sold in Canada and the U.S. and have appeared in a 3-month solo show and more than thirty group exhibitions to-date.
